Alternatives to Leaving your Church Up one folder

  • Pray. Pray personally and gather with others in your congregation to pray for your church.
  • Support. Offer encouragement and support to your pastor(s) and other church leaders by your presence, service, and feedback. Provide positive reinforcement for all you can affirm.
  • Be open. Do not gather in secret meetings. Be open about your concerns and your gatherings. Express your concerns constructively but firmly.
  • Network. Connect with members of other UCC congregations who share your concerns, so that you can support and encourage each other. Attend regional and national gatherings of concerned UCC members. Be sure the conference contact in your conference has your name and e-mail address, as well as those of others in your congregation. Forward all e-mails about renewal concerns to as many people as possible.
  • Establish a "Faithful and Welcoming Cluster" in your congregation -- a regular gathering for Bible study, prayer, support, and networking with others in the UCC.
  • Join us. We invite you to attend our national gathering July 2-4, 2006.
